Radiology Study Program, Faculty of
Medicine Udayana University is one of the new study programs at the Faculty of
Medicine, University of Indonesia Udayana, which was established in 2016. The
establishment of the Radiology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine
Udayana University, is one way to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors
Radiology in Indonesia.
So far, the availability of radiology
services is still not evenly distributed in service facilities secondary
health, especially class C and D hospitals, especially in remote areas, borders
and islands (DTPK). Based on Hospital Information System (SIRS) data Online
Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on January 1, 2014, there were
2,228 hospitals both the government and the private sector in Indonesia, there
are only 1,911 hospitals that have has a Radiology Specialist. Of that number,
69.5% are Specialist Doctors Radiology is on the island of Java and the lowest
number is in Bengkulu and West Sulawesi.
In line with the program to accelerate
quality improvement and service access through Competency-Based Specialist
Doctors Education Program, implementation of teleradiology provides benefits to
support the implementation of the assignment of specialist doctors level I and
utilization of post-specialist education, as well as the educational process in
medical education network hospital. The development of science and technology.
The rapid development of health services globally has led to an increasing
variety of products health services to meet the needs of the Indonesian people.
Therefore availability of specialist doctors is needed both in the fields of
education, services, research and community service. One of those needs is
Indonesian Radiology specialist needs.
The entry of global health services
into Indonesia must be anticipated by health services and educational
institutions. One of the efforts is by provides Indonesian Radiology Specialist
Education Study Program (PPDS) with an insight into Indonesian culture. This
program began with the inauguration of a number of radiology specialists by the
Indonesian Collegium of Radiology through portfolio collection and assessment
and proof of his commitment and dedication in the fields of service, education
and research radiology. All these specialist doctors are gathered in one
organization, Association of Indonesian Radiologist (PDSRI).
Preparation for the establishment of
the Radiology Study Program at the Radiology Section of the Faculty of
Medicine, Udayana University/General Hospital Prof. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah has
been initiated since 9 years before the establishment of the Radiology Study
Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, in the form of cooperation to
participate in organizing preliminary education for prospective radiology
specialists from Airlangga Univerisity at Departemen Radiology of Faculty
of Medicine, Udayana University/General Hospital Prof. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah,
where students take preliminary education at Faculty of Medicine, Udayana
University for 2 years first and completion at Faculty of Medicine,
Airlangga University for the next 2 years. In the process In this
collaboration, the Radiology Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana
University/General Hospital Prof. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah has been visited
three times by the Indonesian Collegium of Radiology, namely in 2006, 2009 and
2012. visitation of the Indonesian Collegium of Radiology in 2012, which
reviewed the feasibility of establishing Radiology Residents at the Faculty of
Medicine, Udayana University resulted in a conclusion that this Study Program
is feasible to stand independently.
As for health service providers in
international tourism areas the island of Bali, then the Radiology Study
Program of Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University/General Hospital Prof. dr.
I.G.N.G Ngoerah will provide local content to participants Educate about
diagnostic radiology services in medical tourism. It is expected become an
added value for the Radiology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University,
in providing plenary services to domestic and international tourists.
